Leaving on a Jet Plane

Darlings I could not be more excited because this week I get to go visit home! I'm heading off today, my bags are packed and my plans are made. I'll be sure to fit in lots of sweet tea, Southern BBQ, and Starbucks runs while I am in the States. Actually, I must admit my list of things to do at home is much longer than that, and they basically all in involve food! haha.

*thanks for the photo Gyan of Flickrista*

I'll still have motivation coming to you from the road so fear not!

xoxo!

Define: Moving On

What exactly causes us to finally "move on?" Are we eternally condemned to waiting on the next door to open before we can stop staring at the one that seems to have closed in our faces? Must it always be that we must find somewhere new to place our heart before we can find closure from the past? Or in the same sense but reversing roles, why must we always wait until that other person moves on for good before we feel we can close that chapter of our lives?

I have felt this way in a couple transitional times in my life, where I think I subconsciously clung to a certain someone to be my safety net...the person I could always run back to in between failed attempts of dating. What is it about that person that always holds your heart? For me, I never really closed that door until I heard he was engaged, it was then that I finally felt I could part with that chapter of my life and feel free of that force that he forever held on me. Because for some reason mes cheries, we may never know why things don't work out. It may seem like all the pieces are there for what should be a relationship filled with glorious displays of fireworks, but bad timing after bad timing all we continually get is an explosion. Therefore, in no small way, I am forever grateful for "Moving On." Even if it may stop me in my tracks every now and then, it forces to me to take back my heart and save it for something worthy; to quit leaning all my hope on a weak fortress and build it up for a future mansion.

What is "Moving On" to you?

Travel Confession #8

One of the best part about traveling is the anticipation leading up to the trip. Your voyage is still full of a million unknown variables that will hopefully create the vacation you are needing.
It is that sense of adventure that is bursting at your seems, ready to embark down the alleys of an uncharted place.

What is your favorite anticipation?

Have a Tea Party

I have always been an advocate for old fashioned afternoon tea parties. Dresses, hats, and gloves paired with sunny china, savory tea, and mini food....who can really resist? With all the buzz around the new Alice in Wonderland movie (which I have yet to see, but its on my list), I couldn't help but take a moment to dwell on my fondness for this pastime.

*thanks Sarah Louise Photography for the photo*

So put on a flowy dress, and borrow your grandmother's vintage accessories. Gather all your girlfriends and have a go at feeling classically rich. Attempt your most Martha Stewart tasty dish and channel your inner Jackie O.

Have you been to a tea party mes cheriess?

and Don't be late for a very important date! Time is running out on this awesome DIY giveaway!

Why Not Me?

What is it with women, (including myself, guilty as charged)? I was watching one of my all time favorite movies last night, When Harry Met Sally, and there is a scene that got me thinking. Why is it that, as women, no matter how "over" a relationship we are, when one of our exes gets engaged you can't help but wonder...Why not me? You could have had all the time and closure in the world, yet somehow you still manage to wonder this. I don't get it, if you logically think about, if this guy was to propose to you, you would still say no, still be completely sure that you're not supposed to be with this guy.

*thank you xanga for the pic*

What is it about someone from our past moving on that is so hard to grasp? I think it is a mixture of habit. This is a person you used to have serious feelings for. You trained yourself for a long time to dream of a future with them; to love them. Then, once things were over you had to retrain yourself to feel the opposite. Its a hard cycle, and a cycle that I feel that gets slightly jogged when this unexpected event occurs. Also, this engagement solidifies an end to any future you may have been holding on to with this person. Be it any level of the subconscious it is never a fun feeling, only confusing.

What is it?

Embracing the Ever Afters

I can't help it mes cheries, all my life I have absolutely lived in a fairy tale. I was always the little princess. The girl that twirled in dresses all day, and never tired of playing with Barbies who were rescued by their princes.

*photo compliments of Tumblr*

Quite frankly, I don't see anything wrong with that. I am very level headed and always have been. I understand the difference between the girl and guy dancing away with the music into the credits of Happily Ever After, and a real relationship with all its ups and downs. Most importantly, I also am grounded enough to be ware of the fox in the prince's clothing. There are far too many men out there that know what strings to play to get exactly what they want, and there are sadly too many women that fall for it. Given you can maintain your level headedness, I say "Why not live in a fairytale?" Every woman should always believe she is a princess, this way she knows her worth and can hold out for that very rare prince charming that can truly come and begin her Happily Ever After.

What fairytale do you live in mes cheries?
