NYC Bridal Week 2013 Recap

Bridal Week 2013 has been clicking along here in NYC and what dreamy week it has been. I have been super busy and therefor constantly checking my Pinterest feed to see all the gorgeous dresses for one very important runway in life. Here are some of my favorites, how about you?

Can Oscar de la Renta really do no wrong? Not from my point of view.
His gowns were all a bride's dream. He even added a little Something Blue to some.

Monique Lhullier never disappoints. I love all of her soft chiffon dresses.
That top right with the crystals is especially catching my eye.

Roman Keveza has always been a favorite of mine.
The wrapped dress gives a little Grecian Goddess without being hoakey.

Vera Wang along with some other designers made some bold red statements.
I can't say I'd pick this as my wedding dress, but I definitely love the gown!

Marchesa's line of sheer, peepholes, and even some high to low gowns was fit for a princess.

Justin Alexander had really great style. His dresses are beautiful of course, but out of every runway show, his hair and beauty was impeccably done and by far my favorite.

So who would you pick for your big day?

Funny Fashion Girls

For a funny Friday edition, I thought I'd honor the funny fashion girls I get to work with every day. I really love people, and love people watching. Fashion girls are always fabulous, a little neurotic, and very dedicated to their loves...let's watch and learn.

This is how the fashion girls I work with dress everyday. I do love working in an industry (finally) where everyone dresses with style, even when it's not your style it is done on purpose. I love the girl above for example but picture 2 and 4 are too loose and Olsen Chic for my taste. My style is girlier, with shape so I tend to have more fitted, less androgynous pieces.

Funny Fashion Girls Obsessions:

1. Yoga
Bikram, bikram, bikram. It'd be a top trending topic if fashion offices got #Hashtagged. Where is your yoga studio? Who is your instructor? OMG She is totes AMAZING! How long have you been practicing? Did you see the latest LuluLemon yoga line?! I actually am a runner, and like to cross train with dance classes like Zumba and Hip Hop Abs, so yoga...not so much my thing.

2. Coconut Water
Fashion girls live and breathe by the hydrating promises of Coconut Water... How else would you survive the morning following the late nights of fashionably partying? I personally need a little sweetener and swear by VitaCoco, Rihanna endorsed, which tastes better than it's competitors.

3. Celine
This not so little trapeze bag can be seen all over town and in every fashion office at least once. It's the latest staple of the fashion girls for It Bag Status. I personally hate that the sides are designed to stick out like that, but if you love it, it absolutely is great quality.

4. Cleanse
Any craze that involves not eating solid foods to be "healthy" is an automatic go with the fashion girls crowd. I can't speak to the mood of the girls while on the liquid only 24 hour a day diet, but apparently they are a must. Personally...I love food. A lot.

I love my funny fashion girls and I love how entertaining my crazy fast paced industry is. Hopefully you've taken some great pointers on how to assimilate with this society! To watch them in their natural habitat even in you don't live in a fashion capital watch the hilarious video created by Harper's Bazaar, Shit Fashion Girls Say. Every time I watch this movie I feel like I catch something new that cracks me up!

Cheers and have a great weekend!

Behind the Runway: Red Dress Heart Truth 2012

Every New York Fashion Week Diet Coke sponsors the Red Dress Heart Truth fashion show, where designers donate dresses and celebrities walk the runway to raise awareness for heart health with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). It is always a fun show, and Fall/Winter 2012 was no exception.

The director helping the celebs with their walk for the show while we set up. This New York Fashion Week the celebs included Christie Brinkley, Minka Kelly, Gloria Estafan, Chaka Khan, Jenna Elfman and more.

The red carpet outside got a surprise snow flurry before the show, I stopped for a second to glimpse through the window and was shocked it was snowing!

Diet Coke supports this heart health cause whole heartedly and they make it fun for the guests in the process. Every guest went home with a cute Diet Coke bag filled with goodies. Diet Coke also always parks in the New York Fashion Week tents at Lincoln Center providing drinks and Heart Truth facts for visitors.

The lights from the runway always make it difficult to snap decent photos so here are some from the Heart Truth Facebook Page. Be sure to stop over and LIKE them! Spread awareness for heart health!

 Christie Brinkley in Pamella Roland

 Jenna Elfman in Alberta Feretti

Jennifer Nettles in David Meister
(She's in one of my favorite bands Sugarland)

Rebecca Romijn in Marchesa

The Red Dress Heart Truth show was a fun New York Fashion Week show to work, there was a huge crowd that came and everyone really enjoyed themselves. What was your favorite dress? Be sure to visit the Heart Truth Facebook page and let me know!

Keep that heart healthy!

14 Days of Valentines | Day 1: Silk Robes

My darlings I know far too many women that absolutely hate Valentine's Day. But not me, any day to go overboard on red, pink, hearts, chocolate, and love...I LOVE! Even though I've never actually had a Valentine ON Valentine's Day, I still love it all the same. That just meant my girlfriends were my Valentine. Last year, New York City was my Valentine. This year, and I'm sure the next ten to follow, Fashion Week will be my Valentine! As I gear up for the tents at Lincoln Center, I thought I would help you get ready for your Valentine with 14 Days of Valentines! Each day will be a new theme, Day One: Silk Robes!

14 Days of Valentines | Day One: Robes

14 Days of Valentines | Day One: Robes by fashiondiva304 featuring a sheer robe

I just love lacy, sexy, silk robes. No matter what your pajamas are, or nothing at all, an elegant robe like these scream royalty. And what girl doesn't love feeling royal? I feel like people don't wear robes anymore unless they are flannel or terry cloth, but that makes me feel old. Plus, in silk robes you can saunter around like Ginger Rogers or Ingrid Bergman. Yes please.

I hope you feel royal for all
14 days of Valentines!

Shopping Guide: Maternity Holiday Dresses

If you have reached your twenty somethings, then you have reached the age where your friends begin having babies, maybe even you even have one yourself! Well I'm not on the baby road yet, but I always hear how hard it is finding cute maternity clothes, especially for special occasions. Here is your shopping guide for maternity holiday dresses, may all your holiday parties have you the belle of the ball being swept away by your prince charming back to your castle.

Lets kick off the shopping guide with this show stopping ASOS maternity dress that says "I've still got it" while still being modest. Sometimes you just need to feel like a movie star, and it's currently on sale right now for $63.

As far as slinky maternity holiday dresses go, this is the cutest... and also comfortable. From Ann Taylor LOFT this classic style is $225 and will stay stylish through your many pregnancies.

I can't get enough of anything that sparkles, and this Limited Edition Isabella Oliver is no exception. I would wear this in it's non maternity version so ATTENTION all my pregnant readers, please rock this for me. It is $313 and on sale, but maybe this be your special gift to yourself.

If you have a thin frame in your pregnant state, I recommend you rock the maxi dress. It's so chic and will be such a bold statement. I love the gather at the empire waist on this Isabella Oliver, it is on sale too for $177. It's great that many of the maternity holiday dresses seem to be on sale right now, so hurry!

This flattering maternity dress from Gap is subtle and girly. I love that it is versatile, you could easily dress up this for your holiday parties with bold jeweled baubles and heels, and then for the office like it's styled here with tights, oxfords, and a chignon. And since it's on sale for $50, that dollar will stretch real far with multiple uses. How's that for a shopping guide tip?

I always remember my mother complaining about her arms when she was pregnant because she thought they looked too big. If you feel self consious, all the adorable maternity holiday dresses in the world will not make you feel sexy. This ASOS dress is the perfect dress to feel confidant in your glowing state and twirl happily around the dance floor. Plus when its on sale for $43 and can also been worn on date night, you gotta jump on that!

I hope this shopping guide has given you some good sources and some great fashionspiration. Maternity holiday dresses may be fewer on the racks but don't let that deter you, make it an adventure...like when you shopped for your prom dress!

You'll make the dress beautiful regardless,
so have at it!

Goodbye Grandma

Mes cheris, I had a bit of a difficult day yesterday. On top of working 10-14 hour days, feeling exhausted but making it through, all in the name of New York Fashion Week, I found out that my wonderful Grandma had passed away. The news of her brain tumor hit my family out of nowhere last month, and now in a whirlwind of only 4 weeks she is now in heaven. Saying goodbye grandma is not something I was prepared to do.

Here is my Grandma and Grandpa when they were just dating in Brooklyn. I just love the classic style in this picture. My Grandpa died when I was 6 of colon cancer and almost a couple decades later my Grandma finally gets to join her sweetheart again in Heaven. My mother kept me up to date of her progress and said she was at peace, surrounded by her children, and ready to move into her mansion in Heaven.

My Grandma was a wonderful, encouraging woman that left every room exuberantly more happy than when she entered it. She always made you feel like a million bucks and gave you the confidence and support to pursue your wildest dreams beyond your greatest realm of imagination. I was so fortunate to have such a strong, loving Christian woman in my life as the matriarch of our family.

Goodbye Grandma,
I love you so much and miss you greatly.

Elegance Never Goes Out of Style

Call me crazy, I realize I may be standing alone here, but I was over the baggy androgenous look before it even came back in style. I am a woman. I have breasts, I have hips, and those curves are beautiful and should be celebrated with silk, chiffon, lace, and beautiful tailored patterns. There is a reason when Mad Men launched the fashion world went crazy! Because they were starving for that classic elegance that never goes out of style! True feminine elegance whether ornate or supremely simplistic can never be conquered. So to inspire your womanly palette for the weekend here are some images that have feminine opulence just dripping from them!
